Distillery visits

Planning a whisky trip is harder than it should be, because the one thing you need — current opening hours and tour prices — is the one thing nobody publishes in a usable form.

The gap we're filling

We audited every official whisky-trail body we could find — VisitScotland, the Malt Whisky Trail, the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Irish Whiskey Way. Not one publishes tour prices in machine-readable form, and several publish opening hours that contradict themselves on the same page. The Kentucky Distillers' Association FAQ explicitly declines to give prices and refers you to each distillery. The Malt Whisky Trail's own itineraries have not been updated since 2021.

So we are compiling it: hours with seasonality, tour tiers with real prices, duration, booking mechanism, and whether you need a car. It is slow because it has to be verified with each distillery, and it is worth owning for exactly that reason.

Visitor status is hand-curated, not imported — only 15% of Scottish distilleries in OpenStreetMap carry opening hours and none carries a fee, so there is nothing to import.

Know a distillery's current hours or tour price?

We would rather publish a figure confirmed by the distillery than one scraped from a stale page. If you work at a distillery, or you have just visited one, tell us what you paid and when.
