Mash bill

The recipe of cereals, by percentage of the grain charge, from which a whisky's mash is made — for example 75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley.
Not a legal term
No whisky regulation in Scotland, Ireland, the United States, the EU or Japan defines this. It is a trade or marketing term, so it is only actionable if its use is actively misleading.
Worth knowing
US standards of identity are stated as mash-bill percentages, so the term has legal consequence even though the phrase itself is undefined. Scotch single malt has a mash bill of one ingredient by definition.
